oh, it's still large *smiles fondly at it* but for some reason, even though I plucked it's lower leaves off, it still has quite a few leaves all in one place at the top...is this normal? Or is this the way sunflowers are supposed to grow?

;D perfectly normal do not rip those leaves off lol they will produce most of the energy as they will be the largest

I'll be the first to officially be expelled from this competition. My sunflower is dead. It never even bloomed, due to neglect from it's owner. Heck, I think I lost my original plant on the night and have been trying to breath life into Logan's sunflower. So I'm a double failure.

My sunflower is sky-rocketing! It's now at my shoulder height and is going to have to be planted in the vegetable patch out of failure to find a new pot big enough.

Ammon my sunflower is at about chest-height right now. Maybe he's doomed to be a shortie lol! or maybe i'm just not watering him enough. He is living in the front garden, right in front of the window. So everyone inside and outside can enjoy the sight of him!

I think my month of neglect while being in Australia and not singing to it may have casued a stunt in it's growth.... ya it's still going strong but only at my hip height... MY hip height.. ya that is SHORT. maybe it's doomed to be like me....? but I have started my regime of watering and crooning whenever i can so.. HooCHEA he will catch up!

Yaay, my ammon has nearly grown up! Ever since I planted him in the front garden, he has been growing at an alarming pace! He is at my neck height now. On the 17th, he had a bud at the top so i was quite excited. then on the 18th, he grew little baby petals. Now today when I left this morning, his petals were curled up and when i got home this afternoon, the petals were out straight and he has a mini sunflower head! He's leaning over a bit, so I went to the cambridge garden centre and got a pole thingy for him to keep him straight ($3.50). Who knew I could be so fond of a sunflower? There were days when he was growing when i forgot to feed him, and his leaves drooped, but a quick dose of water fixed him. How is everyone else's sunflower doing? Apart from Jeremy and Chelsea's dead ones of course (!). And Krystle, whatever happened to "It's HUGE!"?

Hmmm, mine had quite a good run at life too (hence the past tense). It is now in need of a funeral - maybe we could T up on this one Krystle. It was taller than me, which was pretty sweet, but In the end in just needed more space.
RIP

Actually, Ammon is all shrivelled up now. Now the only thing making him stand up is the post he's tied to

I think you win Krystle. Although, I also think the meaning behind the sunflowers died a long time ago! Congratulations tho, you are NZ's Next Top Sunflower Grower.
