At the risk of sounding like we're a Rob Bell Fan Club, I just wanna recommend a book I just finished reading by said Rob along with his pal, Don Golden:
Jesus Wants to Save Christians: A Manifesto for the Church in Exile
I found it challenging and inspiring. It's creative and edgey (and, yet, sorta obvious in a why-didn't-I-think-of-that? type of way). It ends too soon - it'd be cool if they developed their ideas further. But definitely springboarded me into some new and fresh thoughts. Oh, as a bonus, it serves as an awesome model for how to read the Bible as a grand, sweeping narrative, which we all need to learn to do better. If anyone wants to read it, I can loan you my copy.
For a limited time only: new Rob Bell Fan Club members will receive an autographed glossy of Rob topless in Chippendale collar and cuffs.

Firstly, apologies for ignoring all these requests to read the book. I've been Stateside for the past month. But I'm back, baby.
So, kdubs, Olivia, patches08: if you wanna, you can borrow the book off me. But I only have one copy so please form an orderly queue.
Text/email me if you're keen.

I just finished it. And i have to say that it has changed the way i look at the Bible. I've always thought of the Bible as lots of little unrelated stories with morales and then Jesus comes and then the story really begins. And people have been telling me for ages that they all link together into one big picture but ive just never really seen it until now.
I think im going to read it again. i missed a few bits i think.

I only just grabbed the copy off the shelf today (along with Velvet Elvis, i'm going to read that next!) and honestly, I've only read a few pages so far, but i'm getting quite interested. Very funny when I showed my dad, "Jesus wants to save christmas?". He wishes me luck, he thinks it's a challenging read, and he reads Stephen King novels!
