Hey All- I think it's totally rad all the blessings which God gives us on a daily basis. I think it's also thrilling to share the amazing things he's done for us in order that we might encourage each other and praise him.
So here's a space for that. You can share whatever you like about how God's helped you, challenged you and/or amazed you.
Go Hard!
First up I wanted to share with you all how God encouraged me to follow through with an Idea of inviting some people over to read the bible together (check summer youth thread for details);
Rewind to Tuesday morning and I was re-reading Velvet Elvis (Rob Bell, brilliant book I encourage you to read it). Within it the author talks about before the printing press was invented villages and communities would generally only have one copy of the scriptures among them. Having many people how were illiterate meant that for most of Church history the bible was read aloud to Groups of people, who "heard it, discussed, studied it, argued about it, and made decisions about it as a group...". Which meant that you couldn't go off the deep end with an interpretation or opinion as there were others to keep you in check.
I find that a lot of the time when I read my bible I'm reading it alone and have to go else were if I don't understand a passage or have questions. It's also sometimes hard to see how it is relevant to our lives, so in this I had a thought to invite some people other so that we could read passages we had not previously read and discuss what we had but were struggling with. Because I knew I couldn't be the only one who felt this way.
So I text my close friend Chelsea to see if she would be interested about reading the bible in group. I got a reply at 10:33am saying she would be. At about 4ish I was still thinking about if I should organize anything, so I checked the youth forum to see with anyone else had arrange something. I saw this posting;
"Hey all - I'm kinda busy at work this week, but may be able to get a few things off the ground...but - what I think would be cool is if some others wanted to organise something? Think about what you'd love to do, pray about this - then post it and make it happen. You could get a group together to read through some of the Bible together, you could meet and pray together, you could go pick up rubbish together, you could go get coffee together - the world is your oyster!
So, if you got some spare time - go on, organise something, it'll be fun."

How's that for a green light?
