Okay so Ive been thinking about this one alot. some questions that have come up are like: - what is faith? how should it affect our lives? - should we fully let god influence our life so that hes making the decisions for us? - why is it that sometimes we are insecure and hesitant about praying to god?
there will probably be more questions in the future.. I just thought Id start this since this website has barely been used lately. Hope to read a vaste range of views on this subject.

Hey Courtney,
Just wondering - what made you ask these questions? Is there a background story to this? Just think this makes the question come to life a little bit more...
I think Hebrews 11 is a great starting point to questions of faith - but the whole story of Scripture is the story of people responding in faith (or not) to this invisible God. Read through Hebrews 11 - and make a couple of points about any similarities between the expressions of faith recorded here. For example - a really obvious point is that all of this faith was viewed as an action - it was a verb. Noah built an ark. Abel gave a better sacrifice. Abraham went. I think (for starters) faith is a very earthy, active word - not some weird spiritual force that we muster up. Sometimes, it's acting when we don't feel God's presence.
Just some starting ideas...

Yeah theres a really long story behind the motivations to bringing this up.. Ive been hearing alot about the action of fully having faith in god as we live our lives... And Im hoping to do my devotion on faith at camp these coming holidays (I wasnt even thinking about coming back, but job searching isnt going to well at the moment and I keep getting the feeling that God wants me to come to camp) And I saw how this site is kinda being forgotten about, first thing that came to mind was faith. so yeah, theres the shortened story to why I posted this up.
Hebrews 11 huh? I noticed matthew 14 v 22-33, talks about Peter who walks out on water to Jesus during a storm, and emphases how he looked away for a moment to look at the wind and rain and the faith Peter had weakened when he looked away. But even in moments like those, Jesus was there with his hand out in a second to be there.

Cool - you checked out Hebrews 11 yet? Notice verse 1 - "Faith is being sure of what we hope for, and certain of what we do not see". I think faith is acknowledging our fears and our doubts (the words used are 'hope' and 'do not see') - but then, stepping out anyhow. I don't think faith is (always) that moment when we act knowing that God is going to come to the rescue - a lot of the time, I think stepping out in faith is the scariest thing in the world. If we waited till we had no fear, we'd be waiting for the next life I think!
With Peter - I bet when he stepped out of the boat onto the water - his faith was in Christ. He knew that Christ could do the impossible. Yet, at the same time, I bet that in the moment when he was walking on water - I bet he was freaking out! No-one had ever done this before, yet here he was walking on water - his mind must have been tripping out. He didn't jump out of the boat onto the water, land and think, "Yeah, I knew this would happen". Peter stepped out cos Christ told him too, so he did it - with all his doubts and fears. Pretty amazing!
